After a long flight, travelers face high VTC fares, confusing public transport systems that may not drop them at their doorstep, and the challenge of managing luggage through crowded stations. Public transportation can be time-consuming and rarely offers direct routes, leading to prolonged travel times and discomfort.

Moreover, while sharing a VTC could cut costs and reduce environmental impact, coordinating with other travelers spontaneously at the airport is impractical and unreliable. There’s no simple way to verify trustworthiness or ensure that routes align perfectly without prior planning. This gap in connectivity and convenience is where AIRIDES steps in.

Our app solves these problems by allowing travelers to connect and coordinate shared rides effortlessly before they even land. Registering and Logging In

1. Download and Install AIRIDES  from Google Play or the App Store and install it.
2. Create an Account: Open the app and select “Create account”. Enter your personal details: name, photo, languages you speak, and confirm your account via an email verification.

Preparing for Your Trip

1. Enter Flight and Destination Information: 
   1. Flight number and airline
   2. Indicate if you have checked luggage and whether you are traveling solo or +1. 
   3. Specify your destination in the city.
2. Payment Method Setup: When confirming your first trip, add your payment method (credit card, PayPal, Revolut, Apple Pay, etc.). This is required only once and no charges will be made for entering your payment details.
3. Automatic Information Collection: The app automatically gathers information about your flight via APIs, including delays and arrival times.

Making a Match

1. Virtual Pool Room: The app opens a virtual room displaying all passengers going to the same city, sorted by distance to your destination.
2. Profile Viewing: View user profiles with information such as name, distance to their destination, reviews, rating, and spoken languages.
3. Sending Match Requests: Choose a person based on distance, reviews, or language, and send a match request. 

Coordinating the Meeting

1. Flight Estimation: Based on flight info, AIRIDES estimates when each person will be ready to share a ride.
2. Meeting Point Suggestions: AIRIDES will propose you to meet in the VTC point of the airport.
3. Real-Time Location Sharing: Share your real-time location to facilitate finding each other securely.

Selecting the VTC Service

1. Service Availability: The app shows which VTC services (Uber, Lyft, Bolt, etc.) are available in the destination city.
2. Companion App Compatibility: See which travel apps your companions have installed, making it easier to choose a service.

Coordinating Payment

1. Requesting the VTC: At the meeting point, one user opens the chosen VTC app and enters both destinations. For example, the fare might be $180.
2. Fare Entry in AIRIDES: Enter the fare in AIRIDES. Other users receive a payment request with the cost.
3. Accepting Ride Requests: Upon accepting, each user pays their share plus a €0.50 commission automatically. For example, if the fare is $180 and there are two people, each pays $90 plus €0.50. The user who does not order the ride will be charged upon accepting the request. And AIRIDES will hold the payment, and transfer it to the user ordering the ride once the trip has ended.

Completing the Trip

1. Requesting the Ride: The initial requester orders the VTC from the chosen app.
2. Sharing the Ride knowing payments are securely managed via AIRIDES.

Ratings and trust

1. Rating Fellow Travelers: After the trip, rate your travel companions from 1 to 5 stars. Ratings build each user’s reputation within the AIRIDES community.

Example Process:

• Example Scenario: Marc and Lucía arrive at New York airport. Both have entered their destinations in AIRIDES.
• Making a Match: Marc sees that Lucía’s destination is 600 meters from his and sends a match request.
• Coordinating the Meeting: Lucía accepts, and they start chatting to coordinate their meeting. AIRIDES suggests a meeting point in the VTC area.
• VTC Selection and Payment: Lucía opens Uber and enters the destinations. The fare is $180. She enters this amount in AIRIDES, and Marc accepts the payment request, paying $90 plus €0.50 that will be sent to Lucía who initially paid the total amount.
• Completing the Trip: Lucía requests the Uber, and they share a comfortable and safe ride. Upon arrival, they leave reviews to build their reputation in the app.
